created for more: the health retreat

A 5-day faith-based immersion for women ready to leave old patterns behind and reclaim your identity as a deeply nourished, connected, powerful woman of God.

October 18-23, 2026 in Hocking Hills, OH

What you don't need:

  • another loud, rushed, busy conference on how to “do better,” how to be a perfect wife, or a more productive mom

  • people who will judge you if you don't arrive polished, productive, or spiritually impressive

  •  more “healing” things added to your to-do list

  • a "retreat" with over-scheduled back-to-back days that leave you feeling more drained than when you arrived

  • more  rah-rah personal development that falls flat the moment you get home

  • more feel-good-now practices that fail to address the root causes of why you return to your old patterns over + over

  • vegan/spiritual rabbit food (hehehe ... former vegetarian/attempted vegan here)

You sense an aching in your soul that is too tired for more thinking and more striving.

This retreat is for the woman who:

  • thinks deeply, feels deeply, and cares deeply

  • has struggled with the heaviness of weight and/or health issues for years

  • knows she needs to take time for her body-mind-spirit, but finds it hard to be consistent

  • feels trapped by recurrent patterns of addictive behaviors (eating/drinking, scrolling, shopping, comparison, working, personal development, etc)

  • wants a deeper relationship with God, but sometimes feels wrung out by life, responsibility, noise, caregiving, pressure, or the constant hum of the modern world

  • feels like life, responsibilities, and even social connection has become a heavy blanket

  • finds herself searching for answers but never seems to find them

This is a 5-day reprieve. But it's also designed to powerfully break the lifelong chains that have kept you bound to the habits that are insidiously harming you.

Here, you'll:

breathe again, to pray again.

let down your guard and open your heart.

remember who you are again in the presence of God.

renew your faith, your hope, and your spirit.

Hard, but necessary, truth: if what you were doing was going to work, it would have worked by now.

Most women struggling with their health or weight aren't fighting a knowledge problem. They're fighting old stories, soul wounds, and patterns that have quietly shaped their choices for years. They may experience success for a while, but eventually find themselves back in the same familiar cycles. After enough disappointment, many begin to question whether lasting change is possible—or whether this is simply how life will always be.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12|2

Retreat Participant, California

"I've been to a lot of retreats and Shannon's retreat is still one of the best I've ever been to. The food. Oh. Her food is delicious and plentiful! It's the first time I wasn't hungry at a retreat." (hehe, this person said this out loud on another retreat that Shannon, herself, was attendeding)

Retreat Participant, Michigan

"This retreat was the first time I've been able to share my heart with other women and not fear being hurt or judged. This is the most healing experience of my life.

Retreat Participant, Michigan

"I am a changed woman ever since I came back from Shannon's retreat. I learned so much and enjoyed connecting with each of the women there. Also, Shannon's food is the best retreat food I've ever had. (Two-time attendee.)

The heart behind this retreat

I have run 6 women's transformation retreats so far!

This time, I wanted to create something different: a place where a small, intimate group of women may come as strangers but leave as soul sisters.

Not a loud retreat, but a powerful, chain-breaking, pattern-disrupting retreat.

Not a hyper-produced retreat, but one where your quiet courage is honored.

Not a retreat where you leave more exhausted than when you arrived. (We've been there, done that, right?)

Just a deeply human few days with women who love God (or who are exploring their relationship with God and what that means) and are ready to slow down long enough to hear their own soul again.

This is a place where rest is not treated like laziness.

This is a place where sensitivity is not pathologized.

It's a sacred place where faith and nervous system healing are allowed to belong together.

I've seen how hustle, striving, and performance have taken its toll on so many women. But I also know that nothing changes if nothing changes.

The God difference

If you had told me even a couple years ago that coming back to God would be the turning point for the heavy health, business, and relationship challenges I was facing, I would have rolled my eyes.

I had church hurt. Like, big time. I wanted nothing to do with who I thought were Christians.

But there came a turning point. I realized I had tried to do it on my own. As someone with strong mental fortitude, it was painful that I could not seem to crack the code on my own health sustainability. I always felt guilty for night eating, alcohol consumption, and feeling too frozen to exercise.

Then I remembered that Jesus said, "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest." Mark 6|31

It hit me: my daily quiet time, which I had done for years, had been full of empty mindset work, writing my dreams and goals, but there was no anchor to tether my goals into permanency. In almost an instant, I knew that had to change and it's been nothing short of miraculous.

But beyond that, I realized I needed deliverance from spiritual oppression that had me tied up in knots. It was after this I decided to pursue training in healing spiritual oppression. ultimately taking an intensive certification certification (Restored To Freedom) in August.

Over the last year,  I came to realize that Real Jesus wasn't the church as I knew it. In fact, Jesus often spoke out again the dogmatic religious groups who lived by long lists of rules and extreme rigidity.

I have watched how "purity culture" has infiltrated the wellness space and, to be honest, it sickens me. I watch women striving, waking at 4:30am in the name of "discipline," all while their nervous system and bodies suffer. And when they "fall off the wagon," which inevitably happens because their body will shut you down when they can't push through anymore, they feel like they've let themselves and everyone else down.

Healthy habits matter. But no amount of meal plans, exercise programs, or willpower can heal a wounded heart.

When God begins to expose and heal the deeper issues beneath our struggles—the shame, fear, avoidance, self-protection, and false beliefs that keep us trapped—everything starts to shift. Behavior change is no longer something we constantly strive for. Instead, it becomes the fruit of a transformed heart. That kind of change isn't temporary; it's real, sustainable, and deeply rooted.

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11|28

Sitting on a Bench

Come renew your mind, restore your body, and release the soul wounds

If your soul feels tired ...

If your body feels overrun ...

If your mind has been carrying too much for too long ...

Come away for awhile.

There is room for you here.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5|17

FAQ

What can I expect to feel like when I leave?

Can you cater to vegetarian or vegan participants?

Vegetarian, possibly. Vegan, no. Email support@shannonstockwell.com if you are vegetarian and want to come.

This is a deep, immersive (yet gentle) experience. You might feel tender, joyful, peaceful, or tired (or all of the above!). But it's likely your body will feel more relaxed, you will be breathing more deeply, and will be excited to walk more closely with God in your health journey. One of the reasons we made the retreat Sun-Fri is so you have the weekend to rest + integrate.

Yes, absolutely! This is a great space to deeply reconnect with God. That said, this is a Christian faith-based retreat, not a new age "spiritual" retreat. Jesus is at the center. As long as you're okay with that, we would be delighted to have you!

What about food allergies or sensitivities?

Will I have enough time and space to rest?

Shannon is highly familiar with special dietary restrictions and can do her best to accommodate. Gluten-free and dairy-free are pretty common requests. Reach out to support@shannonstockwell.com for other concerns.

Yes, absolutely! We do not pack activities back-to-back. Inegration is absolutely essential.

Chronic health issues and excess weight are rarely just a physical struggle. Very often, they are a result of painful soul wounds (trauma, abuse, generational curses even) that require supernatural solution. No diet, exercise program, mindset work, or even therapy will break the bondage of soul wounds and spiritual oppression. So, yes, this retreat will truly help you

If I have struggled with my health, how will this retreat truly help me?

You can share as much or as little as possible. That said, even the shyest participants in Shannon's retreats often warm up quickly.

What if I am afraid to share in a group setting?

FAQ

I am worried about my physical capability for the outing to Ash Cave. What can I expect? What if I can't do it?

At one time, knowing that I would need to walk with other people more than a few steps would have instilled fear in me. It is totally understandable to be concerned about your physical ability when you've struggled with this. The loop we will walk is flat, paved, and approximately 1/2 mile. It takes approximately 30-40 minutes to navigate. There are plenty of benches along the path as well. If needed, it is also wheelchair accessible. Here's the thing: you can do it, even if you need support and accommodations. We've got you xoxo.

What if I am not actively practicing my faith, but I believe in God? Can I still come?

What types of meals and snacks are provided?

Breakfast: an array of self-serve fruits, yogurt, cottage cheese, egg bites, sourdough bread, peanut butter, and all the snacks below

Brunch/Lunch: a fancy egg dish with hearty oatmeal (with all the toppings) or a fall stew or hearty soup filled to the brim with meat and vegetables to warm you from the inside-out; optional bread (French or sourdough) and butter.

Dinner: each evening, we will gather around a gourmet-ish, protein-rich, nutrient-dense homecooked meal (truly, I’m told that my food is magical at retreats lol).

Snacks: plenty of options will be available for you to self-select, including cheese, hummus, regular and GF crackers, fruits, KIND bars, beef sticks, peanut butter, nuts, and seeds. Some chocolate will no doubt make an appearance as well.

Beverages: There is a Keurig + variety of pods, a kettle + a variety of teas. Half & half, milk, creamer, honey, and raw sugar are provided. The house is nicely filtered, sparkling water also available.

What about alcohol?

Do you offer payment plans? Do you offer refunds if I cannot attend?

This is an alcohol-free and drug-free retreat.

There is a 3-pay option for this retreat (assuming enrollment by July 15). If you would like an extended payment plan, you are welcome to use payment plans via Klarna, Affirm, or Afterpay through Stripe when you check out.

No refunds are offered for any reason. Travel insurance is highly encouraged for this reason. Your spot can be transferred to another participant with approval.

Gradient Background

Your facilitator

Shannon Stockwell, MS, PA-C

is clinically trained in conventional medicine and has also trained in holistic/functional medicine, mindbody medicine, and intrinsic coaching. She is neurospicy, highly sensitive, and can somewhat be described as a mix between a soul nurturer + a spiritual activator + the introverted girl next door, though labels are not her favorite. đŸ˜‰

She loves dancing and cooking, and pretty much does both daily, often simultaneously. Her other passions include writing, getting stronger in the gym, and creating incredible retreat experiences for other sensitive women.

Life has not always been easy for Shannon, but she credits God for helping her rise up and heal from a life of trauma, loss, and excruciating emotional and physical pain to help women all over the United States heal their bodies, minds, and hearts, reversing chronic illness patterns, just as she has in her own body.

She lives in Plymouth, Michigan and is married to the love of her life, Troy, and has two children.

This is Shannon’s seventh transformational retreat ... and her first fully faith-based retreat! She blends down-to-earth disarming humor with deeply seeing and honoring the human right in front of her. She loves God and loves people (in the right quantity lol).
